BLITZ COLLEGE EXPOSURE PROGRAMS

Blitz College Exposure Fall/Spring Program.....

The Iowa Blitz began a Fall program in 2007. Since that time, it has grown into an exposure program for high school players who want to be recruited by college programs but yet, still want to play with their high school teams during the summer.

The Exposure program began in the fall of 2009 with one team made up of players from across the state of Iowa. The teams played in several Iowa events plus three travel events to Indianapolis, Kansas City, and Tulsa. The team began play in late august and wrapped up their season at the end of October. The Iowa Blitz won the USSSA 18U Fall State Championships, and competed well in the exposure events against some of the top teams in Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

In 2010, the Blitz added a second team. Both teams competed very well in state, once again, earning the 18U State Championship. We added two more exposure events to the calendar, St Louis and Ft Lauderdale, FL in Jan of 2011. The Blitz competed against not just the top programs in the Midwest, but in the entire country. We competed against teams from the Northwest, Texas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Florida. The season wrapped up in Florida with nice victories against a Tampa team, the Washington Blaze, and a 3-1 victory over the Gold Coast Hurricanes (2008 National Champs and 2009 runner up).

During the Fall we will offer 3 different softball experiences for players at Iowa Blitz. All teams will play 5 to 7 events during the fall and many teams will play events into November. In order to be considered for an Iowa Blitz Fall team, you must attend a tryout.

Beginning in 2017, our Fall softball season moved a little later into the Fall due to recruiting changes with the NCAA. Therefore, we can accommodate more Volleyball players than we could have in the past. If you play Volleyball and you want to also play high level softball, we are now able to allow you to do both. You may have some conflicts with the beginning of our season, but the meat of the Fall showcase season should no longer create much conflict with Volleyball at all.

We will offer a NATIONAL caliber travel experience that will combine elite players that are interested in playing on the biggest stages throughout the country during the Fall travel season. In 2017, our National Fall teams traveled to St. Louis, Chicago, Orlando and Arizona in addition to events in Iowa. Due to travel, you will likely have to miss a few days of school to play on this team. This team will be for 100% dedicated players.

We also offer a Midwest focused Showcase option and we will have a number of teams playing under this design. We will limit roster size for maximum exposure for all players. Our Midwest teams from 2017 played a number of events in Iowa along with at least 3 out of state showcase events. We had teams play events in Chicago, Kansas City, St. Louis, Peoria, IL and Bloomington Indiana during the fall of 2017. We plan to add an event in Colorado for a number of our Midwest teams during the fall of 2018. Each team will have a unique schedule, but each team will get great practice, coaching and fantastic events.

Iowa Blitz will also offer a Local Only team option once again for 2018. This structure is for those players that love the game of softball, but are very, very active in other fall activities. You will receive the same practice programs and access to facilities as all other teams, but all of your tournament events will be in Central Iowa. There will be a few events that you can gain exposure to college coaches, but the events generally will not be exposure focused the same way that either the National team, or the Midwest teams will be designed. This team will have high level play and great coaching, but will not travel outside of Central Iowa. This team’s schedule will very likely conclude in October.

Through the tryout process, we will build the strongest teams first in each age group, making sure that there is a balance of pitching, catching and fielding. Once our top teams are set, we will add the next team in line following the same protocol. Not all players that tryout for Iowa Blitz will be offered a roster spot.

Each of our three team options will offer different player fees. The National team will be the most expensive, due to the cost of entry into the events. The Midwest Showcase option will be a little less expensive and the Local Only option will be the least expensive of out fall options.
